“Life at trivago” #1: events

trivago is the largest hotel price comparison in the world, with more than 100 booking sites and over 500,000 hotels working to find your  ideal hotel for the best rate available. To make sure this happens, we have a hard-working team of more than 140 young, creative individuals, from over 27 countries around the world. On our facebook page under, “life at trivago" you can have the first glimpse of what happens in the office – and day-by-day we'll tell you even more via our blog. A large brand can sometimes be mistaken as a very serious, intimidating, money-making machine— but at trivago, this philosophy could not be further from the truth! Below, you can see some examples of how hard work and fun can live together and in turn create one successful company.

Sport events – Everyday at trivago there is an opportunity to take part in sporting events with your colleagues. If you are a football lover, then Mondays are the day for you! Prefer Badminton?  Then you may want to keep your Tuesdays free. On Wednesday we partake in beach volleyball, but if you prefer relax, on Thursdays we offer yoga lessons in office. On occasion, do not be surprised at the opportunity to go climbing in an indoor gym, head out go carting, or go bowling with your team.

Breakfast time! – On the first Friday of the month, it is the time for the breakfast meeting. This occasion is a perfect opportunity to get to know not only your collegues, but also the management team as well. It is the perfect atmosphere to hear the last news about the company, special events, the best results of the month and the next goals to hit— all over a full buffet breakfast. Last but not least, it is a nice occasion to all sit down together over breakfast and talk.

#italianwednesday – As many of you have seen on twitter, every Wednesday, the Italian team at trivago shares the culture, mouth-watering cuisine and hospitality of Italy with friends— cooking the most traditional pasta of Belpaese, along with many more delicious dishes. But it is not so easy! Each guest needs to pass a test before they’re allowed to eat, such as singing or dancing…in Italian of course! You may also find yourself caught on camera, but it is well worth it, for even just one bite!

Relax area – Do not give up when the day starts to be hard. Instead, take a short break in one of our lounge areas by playing videogames, billiard or kicker—or by just relaxing on a comfy Fatsak and reading a book. Afterward, you will feel rejuvenated and ready to you take on your meetings, phone calls, emails and whatever else comes your way. Or, if you prefer, enjoy 5 minutes in silence, by taking a beer from the fully-stocked fridge and unwind in one of our “think tanks.”

Learn German – Always wanted to learn another language but never had the time? At trivago, full-time international employees have the opportunity to take place in one of the weekly German language courses. While living in Germany, you may find yourself lost in translation; trivago wants to help by preparing you with the skills needed to enjoy your time abroad! Whether you’ve never spoken a word or are nearly fluent, trivago will find the course that’s right for you.
