Tips of the month #1: How to book a triple room

The most frequent question we get is about how to find a triple room on trivago. To help out our users, today we would like to explain to you how to go about finding it, step by step.

To start, on our search engine you can only select either “single room” or “double room.” In order to make the interface of trivago much easier to navigate through, we have only included these 2 options as the first choice, so as to help our user have a good understanding of the prices available. Not to worry! With a little research, you will have the possibility to find and book a room for more people.

trivago is a hotel price comparison site; so as to say, you cannot book a hotel on it directly but instead, be able to find the lowest price available by comparing prices from over 500,000 hotels around the world, by way of more than 100 booking sites. Once you found your ideal hotel for the best price, under the hotel item you will see all the information you need about “room type” and “hotel policies” concerning children and extra beds. Just keep in mind every booking site and every hotel has individual policies and services.

Let´s try with an example! Imagine you and a group of 3 friends would like to go to Rome and are looking for a triple room. Type into the search engine the city and date for check in and check out and click “search”. Make sure to leave “double room” as your selected room option.

Automatically, the list of the most popular hotels in the city during that time period will appear. To find the hotels which are offering the lowest prices, sort the results by clicking on “price”. If, for example, you are looking for a 3-star accommodation very close to the center: on the left side of the screen you have the option to use our filters to customize the resulting list according to your needs (“stars”, “distance” etc...). When you find a specific hotel which seems interesting, click on the hotel item and you will be able to see all the prices available –from the cheapest to the most expensive.  Remember: Prices are per room, not per person!

Case #1 - You want to see the prices for all room types: Lets say there is a triple room available for €109 per night (€36.33 per person), through the website “booking.com.” By clicking on “view deal” for that rate, a window for the booking site will open in a separate screen. Within it, in the most cases, you will be able to read through the following information: room type, hotel facilities and hotel policies.

In the section regarding “room type”, you have all possible options of rooms available (such as single room, double room, triple room etc…). If you are looking for a triple room you need just to select 1 in “No. rooms”, next to where it says, “triple room”. And then you are ready to book!

In the case that you are 3 friends and do not want to sleep in the same room, you have many other possibilities such as selecting 3 single rooms or 1 double room and 1 single room—for which you have the option to book them all together.  Instead, if you are a family and traveling with children, under “hotel policies it will have the option to choose, “children and extra beds.” In the case of the child being an infant, you will find the conditions stated as well.

Case #2 - If there is not a prominent list view for “type room” on the booking partner website, you will regardless have the possibility to customize your search by selecting:  number of room, number of people and the age of children. As last step click, “check availability” again.

Case #3 -It could happen that in the price list you are not able to find at first glance a triple room: our advice is to not give up! Try checking the conditions of each booking partner. It is as difficult as it may seem.
If you need more help in the search after trying all options above, do not hesitate to let us know on our wall http://on.fb.me/trivagoquestions and we will glad to help you!
